Subaru Foresters recalled over seatbelt issue.

The AP (3/16) reports, “Subaru is recalling more than 275,000 Forester SUVs because a rear seat belt may not hold a child seat securely in place.” According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “the rear center belt doesn’t meet federal safety standards.” Subaru, said it had no reports of injuries from the problem, which “was discovered by NHTSA in routine testing.”

The Detroit News (3/16, Shepardson) reports Subaru “will replace the rear center seat belt assembly with a newly modified automatic locking retractor.” According to the “Driver’s Seat” blog of the Wall Street Journal (3/16, Welsh, Subscription Publication) Forester model years 2009 to 2012 are affected by the recall.
