Deception outlined in drug company call

Subsys was only approved for what’s called breakthrough cancer pain — pain from cancer that is so powerful that normal opiates like Oxycontin can’t stop it.

But prosecutors allege the company that made it, Insys, pushed doctors to prescribe it for all kinds of pain and would stop at nothing to get insurance companies to cover it.

That’s the accusation leveled in court papers, by a whistleblower and supported by a recorded phone call made by an Insys employee to a company supporting an insurance company.
